About the Regional Needs Assessments

A key component of the NNADAP Renewal Process is the addiction-specific Regional Needs Assessments that were carried out in seven Health Canada regions over the 2008/09 and 2009/10 fiscal years. These needs assessments were initiated as a result of partnerships between regional First Nations representative organizations and Health Canada Regions. The Regional Needs Assessments endeavoured to identify existing key gaps, duplications and strengths within NNADAP services in order to:
  1. guide new investments in the program;
  2. validate existing services and arrangements; and
  3. highlight key NNADAP renewal priorities in both policy and program areas.
