Certification is one way to ensure that addiction workers have and maintain the skills and competencies necessary to effectively support individuals with substance use issues. The process to obtain certification requires a significant commitment by both employees and employers. Through certification, workers build awareness of the latest developments in the field of addictions and gain access to targeted training opportunities that strengthen their skills and competencies as a counsellor, community-based worker or clinical supervisor. This pamphlet will provide a brief overview of certification benefits for addictions workers serving First Nation communities.
